Anyone ever experience these AMAZING BIRD PHENOMENONS, or do I have GHOST BUDGIES?

I have two budgies, a male and a female, and they do the most mind boggling things:

1) The male somehow SOAKS the bottom of the cage! I guess he plays around with his water bottle, but he has one similar to this one:

So how can he possibly wet the entire cage bottom by playing with that??

2) For as long as I’ve owned budgies, I keep their cage against a wall, but not RIGHT up against it. There is a few inches inbetween the wall and the cage. But SOMEHOW they manage to poop so it lands ON THE VERTICAL WALL.

How do they DO that???

3) I got the female recently, and she has mysteriously been getting out of the cage on her own! At first I thought it was a fluke, but this morning it happened for the THIRD time! I just walk over and I notice she’s on top of the cage, and no one takes her out!

Is it possible that she squeezes out through the bars since it’s a cocktiel cage? I don’t think she could fit through that!

Are my birds ghosts???

I cant belive no body mentioned tht maybey the bird lifted the cage door up??? smart bird you got there. thats if your cage opens up like that

  1. Its probably just in your head get a cage with smaller spaces so they can’t squeeze through, get a different water bottle, and just move the cage away from the wall

  2. no, they are probaly just young and high spirited. My birds used to get the bottom of the cage littered with fod and water also, so nosurprise there. As to #2, they can lift heor tail feathers, and squirt poop, mine did it once, i was cracking up for 5 mins. An yes, she might be able to squeeze through the bars, you you could just have a very smart bird who knows how to poen the door. Put a cam-corder up tothem and ecord all day, then that night leave it running too. The next day, watch their behavior and fix your problems! /Any more questions? email me!

  4. I have a bird, too. Sometimes if they get bored, they may play around with their water and splash it around. For the poop, the birds may have been on the top and pooped, just getting the walls. As for the female getting out, she was probably playing aroung with the door latches and pushing on the door. My bird also does that. In fact, I’ve heard that some cockatiel, budgies, etc. may be able to open a simple lock if it concentrates on the lock.

    Hope this Helped!!

  5. I have 5 birds; 3 parakeets, one cockatiel and one quaker parrot. They are all quite adept at flipping poo on the walls, and my quaker especially likes to play in his water as well as turn it over and pour it out. He is also quite clever with door latches and can get out of his cage and into the other birds cages. Birds are very intelligent. You can always hang a towel over the back of the cage to protect your walls. Don’t know what you could do about the water trick unless you try a different method other than a bottle. You can get clips (like for keys) to put on the doors to keep them from getting out. Good luck!!
